Rights
and Other Details:
We
do accept previously published poems, as long
as you still have the rights to them.
We
do accept simultaneous submissions, provided
that we are notified if the poems are accepted
elsewhere.
We
acquire first rights only, which means that
after publication all rights refer back to the
author.
Please
don't send more than eight poems at a time.
We
will consider any subject matter and any style.
We
are not interested in rhyming poetry. An occasional
rhyme is OK, but we don't want poetry that conforms
to rhyme schemes.
Like
many magazines, we cannot pay poets for their
work. However, we do advertise nationally, and
poets receive exposure.
We
prefer email submissions, but won't hold it
against you if you submit via ground mail. Instructions
for both are below.
Deadlines:
There
are no deadlines; we accept and publish submissions
year-round, as work is accepted.
E-mail
Submissions
Please
paste your submission into the body of your
e-mail. We will not open file attachments!
Include
your contact information (address, phone, and
your e-mail), and a brief bio--just a couple
of factual sentences about yourself (not a list
of where you have been published).
Type
"Submission" in the subject line.
Response
time is usually less than one month.
Note:
we don't give feed back on poetry submissions.
If you are interested in receiving feedback
on your work, you can check out our poetry review
service here.
Send
three or more poems here: submit@bmreview.com
Submitting
by Ground Mail:
No
hand written submissions please. One poem per
page, meaning: a poem can be longer than a page,
but when it ends, start the next poem on a entirely
new page.
The
cover page should include: your contact information
(address, phone, and e-mail if you have one),
and a brief bio--just a couple of factual sentences
about yourself (not a list of where you have
been published).
Make
sure that your name is somewhere on every page
that you submit.
We
would rather respond via email. That means,
please include your email address rather than
an SASE, and you will hear from us electronically.
If you don't have email, then an SASE is OK.
We
do not return manuscripts; we recycle them.
Response time is usually less than one month
(postmarked).
Note:
we don't give feed back on poetry submissions,
due to the great number of writers who ask for
this. If you are interested in receiving feedback
on your work, you can check out our poetry reviewing
service here.
